Privacy

What this site knows about you.

Last updated 2 November 2026

Nothing, on its own. No accounts, no forms, no analytics, no cookies. A few things still happen when you load a page, because a website runs on someone's servers, and this page says what they are and who to ask.

Who runs it

The site is run by Simone Di Mauro and Simone Di Natale, the authors of MAFDET, as a personal, non-commercial, open-source project. The easiest way to reach them is an issue on the repository; their profiles are on the About page.

What this site collects

Nothing directly. There are no accounts, no contact forms, no newsletter, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking pixels. We do not know who visits, how many people do, or what they read.

Hosting

The site is served by Vercel Inc. Like any web host, Vercel receives your IP address and the usual request data (the page, your browser, the time) in order to deliver the page and keep the service running, and may keep them in short-lived logs. Vercel's privacy policy describes that processing.

GitHub

Two things on this site talk to GitHub. The star count in the menu is fetched from GitHub's public API when you load a page. On the About page the authors' profile pictures are loaded from github.com. In both cases GitHub receives your IP address and request data, as it would if you opened github.com yourself; its privacy statement applies. A content blocker that stops requests to github.com breaks nothing on this site: the count simply does not show.

Cookies and browser storage

No cookies. The star count is kept for an hour in your browser's sessionStorage, to spare GitHub a request on every page: it is a single number, it stays in your browser, and it goes away when you close the tab. The install tabs pick your operating system from the browser's user agent, inside the page, without sending anything anywhere. Nothing identifies you across visits.

The app

MAFDET itself is a program that runs on your computer, and this page is about the website only. The app sends your messages nowhere: inference runs locally. At setup it downloads llama.cpp from GitHub and the models you choose from Hugging Face, which see your IP address at that moment; after that, nothing goes out. The source code is public, so this can be checked rather than believed.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what data concerns you, have it corrected or deleted, object to its processing, and complain to a supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali). Since this site keeps no data about you, there is usually nothing to hand over; for the logs kept by the hosts above, their own policies apply. For anything else, open an issue or contact the authors through their GitHub profiles.

Changes

This page changes when the site does, for example if analytics were ever added. The date at the top says when it was last touched.
